Rehabilitation
Following any injury to the body there will have evolved certain postural imbalances where some muscles have tightened to protect the injury and other muscles have weakened as a result. Also, injuries can occur due to initial postural imbalances.
The body is like a suspension bridge, its no point stretching out a muscle if you do not strengthen its opposite.
The usual first port of call is to sort out the immediate injury, so this will involve soft tissue work of some type (physio, osteopathy, sports injury treatment), then when the acute stage of injury is underway and you are relatively pain free the strength phase can begin.
Again, as assessment is undertaken to ascertain which muscles are too tight/strong and which too long/weak.
Then based on the findings a comprehensive corrective exercise programme is designed to re-dress these imbalances, bringing the body back into balance, pain free and reducing the likelihood of future recurrence of the injury.
